Whether a child’s literacy challenges are due to a need for a more individualized way of learning, or due to the impact of a mental health concern such as trauma, ADHD, anxiety or depression, the Rising Readers program offers a unique opportunity that harnesses the power of horses. The demands of the modern classroom don’t always allow time for those who could benefit from extra attention or an alternative way of learning. Falling through the cracks is an all too often occurrence – but there are solutions! 

Rising Readers is an 8-week, equine-assisted psychotherapy and learning program designed to improve literacy skills through the use of horses and guided activities. This experiential approach to literacy combines social and emotional learning with academics by giving students the opportunity to expand their knowledge as well as identify their own barriers to reading and comprehension.
